The world of writers is a strange world. Many writers have a deep resentment for those who have 'made it'
This article and some of the comments in this thread just seem to show me that again.

Amazing. What a great reply. Has he ever considered a career in writing?

I liked this guy's video reading the article with his commentary

That guy’s review seems fair especially since he’s a liberal.

Okay, a couple of thoughts: 1. Even Brandon agrees that his prose is trash. And it is. It's really bad.

I dunno the article was pretty bad imo. I was a journalist and felt everybody

I'm going to disagree. Brandon's prose is accidentally genius.

I think he is a gifted author and world builder, but the prose is not good. I think your argument is more of a

It is a bit of a backhanded compliment, but regardless, I think it is a

I like the stormlight archive. The prose isn't great but the story is good enough to get through it. I couldn't do it on

It felt like a hit piece. Not because of his bits insulting Sanderson's prose/writing, but other stuff.

Yeah, it was aggressively negative in a personal way. That's not just commentary

And so how cool is it to see Brandon giving a master class on applying the Sermon on the Mount

It's not really slander if it is an opinion.

Wired didn't just insult Sanderson's writing
nova_coug_fan

There was clearly an anti lds bent
runnincoug
3/24/23 7:25am
I didn't get that at all.
jacobugath
3/24/23 7:31am
He did call him a "weirdo Mormon"
El Jefe
3/24/23 7:53am
And apparently couldn't take the time to learn the name of the church.

Well, Mormons are a little weird. And Brandon Sanderson is a little weird. Have you ever met him?
jacobugath
3/24/23 7:57am
Name calling is what you are defending? Saying someone is weird and calling them a weirdo are different.
Baron
3/24/23 7:59am
All I'm saying is I didn't get that from the article. I think he found Brandon to be a boring person and there's nothing
jacobugath
3/24/23 8:09am
So saying his religion is weird isn't an "anti-LDS bent"?
El Jefe
3/24/23 8:13am
I'm a fully active member, and I can say our religion is a little weird. Is that really so surprising?
jacobugath
3/24/23 8:16am
The article does not contain a single smidgen of substance. It is a rambling, lazy, shockingly pretentious personal
jaromp
3/24/23 10:31am
WOuld you be bothered if your kids call someone a weirdo?
Baron
3/24/23 8:17am
Also the author takes a shot at how his kid eats food?

Seems like you read the article about as closely as he read Brandon's books, lol
jaromp
3/24/23 8:21am
I've read it twice. And the author said he read almost 20 of Sanderson's books. And Sanderson agreed with his assessment
jacobugath
3/24/23 8:24am
Almost all the commentary about his books was blatantly wrong. It sounds like he skimmed mistborn and called it a day
jaromp
3/24/23 8:27am
Why do you think he leads an insulated life?
No touching
3/24/23 9:10am
Obviously because of the Wired article.

3/24/23 9:15am
I started to agree with you within the first few paragraphs
MetaLearner
3/24/23 10:38am
He called LDS religion the fantasy of religions. Clearly dismissive.

3/24/23 8:27am
Exactly. I don't see how anyone could miss the anti-LDS vibe.
