I don't know how many posts and/or comments I have read in the past several days where someone mentions Ryan Smith's name in an expectant manner. I really dislike how I find myself finding a bit of comfort that maybe Ryan will pay that portion of MadDog's buy-out to which I likely will not contribute. I shouldn't expect Ryan to pay for something to which I wouldn't contribute.
I really enjoy cheering for BYU — and it has been a great outlet for me over the years; however, I always do a 'cost-benefit' approach to my entertainment dollars/time. I don't know where my $$ line hits — that line upon when I pursue other interests. I know I don't watch a ton of pro sports. I don't know why entirely. The college game — both football and basketball — has appealed to me more than the pro ranks. I guess when the college game feels like the pro game then maybe I'll spend more of my Saturday afternoons on a mountain bike trail rather than in Cougar Stadium.
Tough situation for all involved in the administration of college sports (at the University level). I don't think anyone likes it where things stand today. I just don't know where that equilibrium point hits. I don't fault Pope, Hall, Saunders, Khalifa, etc — it just sucks.
