Depends on the type of vacation you prefer. If you want to see as much as
possible, then get the Eurail pass and see the major cities.
If you would rather "experience the culture" then I would focus on Italy alone: Rome (2-3 days), drive the Amalfi Coast (1 full day), Florence (1-2 days), Cinque Terre (1-2 days) Venice (1 day max).
