I’ve played both and seen penalties like that called even without the blood. If a guy gets cross checked and lands on the ice and is bleeding you seriously are saying a jr hockey or college hockey ref is gonna say “yeah that’s cool let’s keep playing.”
I’ve seen the ticky tackiest penalties called in the worst possible time in my playing career. I agree this one was not a major, on replay you definitely do not see intent to injure. But if they call it a power play they still had to go double minor based on the blood, that’s the rule. So if they felt it was enough to warrant a penalty the only option was 4 or 5 min.
It sucks for the Knights fans, but you still have to be better than giving up four powerplay goals in 4 min. You just have to defend better.
And the final goal was not gifted by the refs, it was poor defense and a good move to get the puck past Fleury.
Jump on the Avs bandwagon if you want, but continuing to act like this one penalty call somehow automatically gave the Sharks 4 goals is lame.
