I fail to see how Indy is the cause of all that and how staying in the MWC would

have prevented it.

IMO, more of the blame goes to injuries, bad coaching hires/administrative decisions, a HC who de-emphasized the NFL, injuries, and factors completely and factors completely outside of BYUs control, like Utah winning the expansion lottery and getting the PAC 12 invite while BYU got left out for reasons that will never change.
