community colleges have a basketball team!
long term this is a recipe for zero alumni ties to the school, next to nothing donations, etc. ask a friend who graduated from BYU I when is the last time they went back to campus. ask a BYU grad the same question. I imagine you will hear very different answers.

Expand enrollment to 50K (change up the housing regulations, hire more professors) and have BYU be the religious version

So change everything about the school so more kids can have a BYU experience that will no longer exist.
