The other day I'm sitting by the Primary President at a baptism. I asked her how her Thanksgiving was. She said she visited her two daughters and had Thanksgiving with them.
I said, "Was it nice to not have to be in charge of the meal?"
She paused and said, yes, but it was awkward because these two daughters are the daughters that left the church so they don't have the same values. She said it was awkward to be around the drinking...
At this point, I'm thinking I can understand, but drinking at Thanksgiving isn't that big a deal, but then she continued:
...and pot. I asked, "Pot at Thanksgiving?" I hadn't heard of such a thing.
The PP is very laid back, so she wasn't upset necessarily, just uncomfortable. She told me how she avoided using the gravy as she was pretty sure it had pot in it.
Is this a thing now? Thanksgiving with Aunt Maryjane?
