Properly rated as amazing.

I think I actually prefer smoked turkey breast or even pulled pork.
Nuke
6/27/20 8:22pm
I just smoked a pulled pork today actually
AZPTCOUG
6/27/20 8:24pm
Turkey breast over Brisket?
cougaman
6/27/20 8:27pm
Have you tried it, it’s delicious.
Nuke
6/27/20 8:29pm
Yep. Its still Turkey. I'm a dark meat turkey guy anyway.
cougaman
6/27/20 8:30pm
...ewwww...
BYUtka
6/27/20 8:31pm
The dark meat actually has some flavor.
cougaman
6/27/20 8:33pm
Every time. Smoked Turkey is delicious! Brisket is... overrated.
BYUtka
6/27/20 8:30pm
Beef ribs and turkey legs are the only things I like more.

To me, if you think brisket is overrated I wonder if you’ve had good brisket
jokercard
6/27/20 8:23pm
Obviously. Otherwise we would not think it is overrated.

I’ve tried a lot of Brisket, some of it has been pretty good , but it would never be my first choice.
Nuke
6/27/20 8:30pm
I completely agree, but that’s the point, isn’t it?

6/27/20 8:31pm
I’ve got my brisket game to where it’s great to amazing most every time.

Great when it’s done right, terrible when it’s done wrong, and just ok
USMCdad
6/27/20 8:26pm
I've had ok and bad... Many people claimed was "great" that was just ok.
BYUtka
6/27/20 8:27pm
Same
Nuke
6/27/20 8:30pm
I used to make it once every 2-3 years because I didn’t think it was all that
USMCdad
6/27/20 8:45pm
What are some of those techniques you’re using now?
Cougarman
6/27/20 8:58pm
Use prime full brisket, trim fat 1/4 inch or so everywhere
USMCdad
6/27/20 10:20pm
Thanks, those are some great tips. Do you wrap in butcher paper or foil?
Cougarman
6/27/20 10:34pm
Foil, I know pink butcher paper is the popular thing but
USMCdad
6/27/20 10:42pm
Where can one acquire prime brisket?
eysikal
6/27/20 10:50pm
Costco has them, they used to be $3.49 a lb for full ones
USMCdad
6/27/20 10:58pm
I didn’t realize Costco sold prime brisket. Might have to pony up for it. Thanks

I fell in love with it the first time I had the "fatty" brisket at Bam Bams.

Everyone should list where they've had the best brisket. Makes a huge difference.

Franklin in Austin TX, Snow's in Lexington TX

6/27/20 8:37pm
I am jealous. Franklin’s is a bucket list restaurant for me.
ebv
6/27/20 8:46pm
It's really, really good, but probably not the best in the state anymore.

I really want to do a barbecue crawl through Texas one day.
ebv
6/27/20 8:49pm
That’s going to be a ton of miles. I just did a crawl but in a truck and easily drove over 1,000 miles.
Supercoug
6/27/20 8:55pm
I'm not afraid (just out of shape).

6/27/20 9:05pm

Lots of people I trust really like it, but it was off the one time I went. That can happen.
Supercoug
6/27/20 9:12pm
I’ve had it a time or two where it’s been good, but not great like it usually is

Hole in the wall place in Texas right before the bridge to South Padre Island.

Best I had was Franklins in Austin, The Salt Lick in Austin was just ok
USMCdad
6/27/20 10:38pm
Too fatty??? But yeah The Salt Lick has to be the most overrated joint in the state.
Supercoug
6/27/20 10:59pm
Yeah it was very fatty and all the hype was a huge let down
USMCdad
6/27/20 11:01pm
