While number 20 my list Ko’Olau was in my top 21 because of the unbelievable setting, Number 19’s setting is not too far behind...and it happens to be a great golf course.
Admittedly I am biased as I served my mission in the DOminican Republic. When I was in Puerto Plata I had a hook up at a local resort golf course Playa Dorada, he would get me on to play for free on p-days. It was then I first heard rumors of a beautiful new Ocean course in playa grande about 45 minutes up the coast. It wasn’t in till years later when I finally had the chance to play it, and it didn’t disappoint.
Built in 1997 By Robert Trent Jones Senior, and updated in 2015 by Reese Jones. Playa grande is an excellent golf course with sweeping ocean views and several holes playing right on the ocean’s edge. If playing with a Caddy, perfectly maintained conditions, white sand bunkers and stunning views are your thing...Playa Grande on the Dominican Republics North Shore is a must play.
