I’m not sure #20 Ko’Olau would Make my top 21 on its merits, although it is a good golf course perennially ranked as one of the 25 most difficult courses in America. Supposedly the course record is held by our own Dean Wilson with a 67. For me...it’s a little too tough, too target golf. Even though I played well that day, I prefer courses with width that allow for more thinking and strategy.
However, Ko’Olau is more than just a golf course...it’s an experience in one of the most beautiful settings imaginable and one that no other course can provide. It’s almost as if the resort in Jurassic World had a golf course, or a video game course built in the tropical rainforest. The setting is beautiful in pictures but almost indescribable in person. It is truly a place every golfer should play once.
For that reason it is really the only must play golf course on Oahu and hangs on to this top 20 spot on my list.
