"I'm still in that party that thinks that a p5 would be better than independence" is not an unusual or weird perspective. Realistically, right now the options available to BYU are:

Stay independent indefinitely
Go back to the MWC (basically guaranteed if we wanted it)
Try to go to the AAC (not guaranteed at all, but potentially something we could make happen)

From my perspective, the debate isn't Independence vs P5, it's Independence vs a G5 conference.
