I think for most people its because working a desk job for 50+ hours a week is
soul-draining and makes us all want to die.
People want to feel fulfilled by their work and not dread it every day.
There was a different attitude in prior generations (in America) - that hating your job was a necessary evil, or even a badge of honor.
But let’s be honest - this sucks. Life is short. I’m tempted to quit all the time.

Not gonna lie. I have always admired the Euro/Australian approach to work more. We Americans can grind too much at times
