So, about a year ago, I took a survey of "new hobbies for empty nesters" and one thing that scored high for me was "Learn a Second Language". At first, I dismissed that and said "I already did that...."
BUT, I had forgotten sooooo much in nearly 30 years, that I didn't REALLY speak a second language any more.
So, My HCBW and I started DuoLingo. Yeah, Duolingo is probably not the most professional version ... but it was fun, and easy to do a few minutes every day. The "few minutes every day" part was, I think, the most important for me. I started listening to some German TV shows and stuff like that.
I'd say my language skills are back to about where I was 6 months or so into my mission. I understand most of what is said on German TV shows, but I can't really construct sentences like that on my own. I can construct simpler sentences that get the meaning across.
SO ... i'm certainly still in the "struggling" answer for your poll, BUT relearning and having a fun time relearning.
