The message this sends to kids when school districts cut days and hours willynilly like they have the last 2+ years is:
Your education really isn’t that important. It’s certainly not important enough for you to get all the hours you need. It’s not important enough for you to be there (it can just be virtual). It’s not important enough for teachers or students to be there if they have even one symptom of a disease that is no longer a threat to the vaccinated (which most teachers are). The message is your education isn’t important.

Kids aren’t dumb. They’re getting that message loud and clear. Education isn’t important. Because the adults who are making the educational decisions are treating it like it’s not important. So if those adults don’t care if the students are educated, why should they care?
