This. My freshman daughter is already a student manager because of the shortage
and making good money as a freshman. She's a brand new computer science major and is applying for programming jobs that normally would be above her abilities, but people are desperate, so she'll probably get a programming job soon and her student manager position in BYU food service will go to ... another freshman? A high school senior? It keeps moving down the chain.

In fact, she was an assistant student manager last summer before she even enrolled at BYU ... so she was effectively a high schooler serving in management. That's how the shortage in upper level positions pushes everything down.
