The problem has been with treasury yields next to nothing, there is a lot of
money that has been rotated into equities. That leaves a mark when it rotates back. Add to that the speculative & casual investor money that has plowed into the market in the past year+, and you have the makings of a meaningful correction. Look at the price ratios across the board, all way higher than historical averages.
