I don't mean to disparage BYU fans with the post. It is simply a reality. With the PAC-12 crumbling, if Utah gets into the Big 12, it will be without BYU's help other than a supporting vote. Utah is it's own brand. They played in the Rose Bowl. Utah will get in on their own merits.
BYU would also not be able to keep Utah out even if they wanted to. May as well welcome them
Bringing back a long-time traditional rivalry will be a bonus to BYU, Utah and the Big 12.
Boise State, on the other hand, could use some help. They will be the big loser in this round of expansion. They will be stuck in the mtn.
BTW--Latest rumors...Oregon and Washington also to the Big 10. Stanford will join the Big 12 with olympic sports only. Will likely be a football-only member of the mtn (or Indy). and WCC in basketball. No word on where Washington State, Oregon State and California will end up...likely the mtn. Of course BYU fans are familiar with the rumor that Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah are pursuing the Big 12.
