Everyone is saying the right things that Clarkson wants to stay and the team wants him to stay but reality is a whole different matter.

Bottom line is that Clarkson has a player option on his contract next year that he absolutely won't exercise and will become a UFA. He wants a salary starting at least in the $22-25 million range for 3-4 yrs. The Jazz offered to extend him starting at $17 million per year that he turned down already. Clarkson is 31 yrs old and absolutely does not fit in the Jazz's long range plans.

The Jazz need to trade him to a playoff team desperate for his scoring and playmaking ability this year or likely get nothing for him at all.
