My midwife had a doctor for a partner so it was the best of both worlds for me. We had as few interventions as we wanted and access to help right there. It. Was my favorite birth. Love my mid wife! Also, the hospital nurses all had raving reviews for her. If we ever move I am going straight to the hospital nurses for their recommendations for a new midwife.
On the other hand for my twins - the midwife had joined a bigger practice with another midwife and many more docs. No big deal -until it was twins. Then all of a sudden hospital policy reared its ugly head. She can't deliver twins ( maybe this is her policy?) so I had to go to the doc who was her partner who it turns out I didn't like one bit, and who didn't even deliver the twins due to another doc being on call. Also, feel like I was forced into a c-section due to baby A being breech. Yeah he was breech, give me some suggestions on getting him to turn maybe? The only suggestion I ever got was dates for the c-section. Sorry, still a little bitter. But focused on the two healthy babies and how I can't Change things now.
Anyway, my personal recommendation is midwife at the hospital.
