We do some of the same things
We are in our early 30's and have always paid cash for a car. My wife (an RN) commuted to work in her 1991 Camry with a leaking trunk, no ac, no cruise, and clear coat peeling (named the ghetto cab). It just gave up the ghost in January with 212k.

Last week we bought a 2001 Camry LE with 43k for $6300 cash. Private party sale. Elderly woman who lost her license. Always garaged. Looks like it came off the showroom floor. HOWEVER, it took almost 2 months of monitoring craigslist and missing out on some good deals to get the deal we liked (we knew the old Camry was going out).

I always do my minor/moderate maintenence and repairs (oil, tranny fluid, differential fluid, brakes, etc.)

When the Camry got to it's last 50k and it was looking sketchy I refused to buy brand new tires for it and instead bought like new ones with 90% tread off craigslist for $75.

Our gym membership is bare bones for $10 a month instead of the Axiom (Gold's) around the corner for $50 month. No pool, bball, etc..

No satellite/cable (Roku). I either stream college football or go to a sports bar with friends for big games (its a classy bar). NHL Gamecenter can be purchased through the ROKU.

We USUALLY wait for movies to come out at the dollar theatre. Exceptions are the Twilight films (not by choice....), Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, etc. Movies we REALLY want to see in the best theaters.

We try to now shop at Winco or Walmart for everything instead of using the Albertsons or Fred Meyer that is much closer.

Granted, we drove the last Camry too long I guess. It was an embarrassment but it ran great and never stranded us. Got great gas mileage. It looked so bad we knew no one else would ever buy it so we figured we'd keep driving it.

Oh, and when buying most purchases like snowboards, snow jackets, boots, motorcycles, atv, etc. We wait until off season. I buy a lot of things just before and after Christmas when budgets are tight for most folks and they will let stuff go cheap. I use REI but rarely make big purchase there. I usually find out what I want and what fits there and then buy it new off Ebay or something for 50% less.
