I love old cars with soul. A 240z would be a blast to own and drive.
I don't think that a compact commuter car qualifies as beautiful, though.
I spend 2 hours a day in my car.

The cranking you hear could just be the the starter motor.

Not if you could just put that $1500 toward a down payment on a newer car.

I'm just comparing monthly payments on a new car to the repair cost.

So you would pay $100/mo to drive an old car that you're going to replace anyway

Usually car payments including incremental DMV Taxes and Fees are about $275

Good for you. I'd rather not drive a 20 year old commuter car.

*Caveat: That's just my preference, but paying a bare minimum for transportation

I think I read that people sit in their car on average for about 30 min/day.

Yeah, if it's dead, then yeah, I drop this car.

If the crank moves, it can't be seized. How is that possible?
LiveCoug
4/16/14 10:17am
If it is trying to turn over (crank) then the engine is not seized

A leakdown test would tell you if the rings are bad.

Does it have a cap and rotor, or ist it fuel injected? You could have bad rotor.

it could be the timing chain. Happened to my SIL

Definite possiblity. Wise to change water pump while there.

sounds very much like a timing belt - I agree

Yeah, I feel like it is so close to turning over, but never does.

This is good! Hopefully no serious damage. I believe those Hondas

Yes - Hondas are an interference engine, meaning the valves and piston occupy

Could be a bad fuel pump.
