I think I'm going to put together what I think are the most telling quotes of what happened with the Big Xll. But as a start, you are confusing facts.
The quotes about BYU's lawyer being a "piece of work came" from during negotiations with Big East--not the Big Xll as you claim.

I also have to chuckle at your selectivity when quoting TH about what happened with the Big Xll. Because he has explicitly stated they never even got to discussions on TV with the Big Xll:

And yes, I understand that during the period of actual negotiations sometimes a little lying might be necessary. But TH has repeated the same thing many times when there was not a compelling reason to lie about what happened.
"We didn't get too far down the road (with the Big 12); we were told by the Big 12 that we were a team they were interested in, but we didn't even have discussions about television... TV is a part of any discussion now with conferences, but for people to say that the Big East was a very similar situation to the Big 12--it's not fair, because we didn't have television conversations before the Big 12 went and invited other teams."
I think people forget the impact and direction that the temporary BigXll Commsioner at the time took the teams. Right before TCU was picked he spoke to the media about how he believed in gegraphic alignment, etc.
