Has the scent of very heavy-handed parenting. Kids need to be allowed to do
dumb stuff sometimes. All of my kids have eaten WAY too much candy on Halloween night before and have felt sick for the next 24 hrs. None of them have done it more than once and now they usually throw it out themselves after a week or so once it's gotten stale. It's how we learn to control ourselves. If the only "teaching moments" they have are when dad controls everything, they probably won't learn self control until it's too late or you're not there. Teach them about self-restraint and then let them choose and be there afterward to help them understand that the consequences are a result of THEIR choices.

Choose your battles Man. Let them feel like life is just fun sometimes and don't make yourself the bad guy where there doesn't have to be one.
