Right now there are a LOT of people cutting the cord. They're cutting the cord almost completely BECAUSE of price. So cheapskates, like me, are the people that Dish is trying to reel back in. I look at $20 per month and say "yeah, I could do that at that price." If it goes up, I don't have a contract, I drop them. I'll go back to not paying anything rather than have them push me around.
So, DirectTV puts out their offering. Comcast does theirs. And, in fact, since this is internet based now, and not restricted to local providers, ANY provider around the country can throw their hat in the ring. That's a lot of potential competition.
As I said before, there are only so many ways you can differentiate your offering from the offerings of your competition. What gets the cord-cutters is price. So, if you can give me what I want for a cheaper price at comparable quality, I'll jump to you in a second. I have no loyalty to any company, and really they don't provide anything else that I want in terms of content. Maybe one of them will blow everybody else away with their quality and performance, but I kind of expect that to really even out.
