Check out this story from the BBC, Sugar Vs. Fat.
Twin Doctors did a test. one avoided Fat and the other twin avoided sugar for a month.

The Twin that avoided Sugar felt lethargic and said his mind was dulled.
The story suggests it is the combination of Fat and Sugar you need to avoid.
