Martzen's impact is that he promoted roster balance (actually filling needs) and for BYU to look in other states east of Utah. From 2011-2013 before Martzen arrived, BYU only signed one recruit per year east of Utah. BYU signed 11 in 2 years (5.5 average) under Martzen.
