Hair costs at a salon probably approach $500/year. Makeup, home hair products, clothing, etc probably add to a very large number too.
I'm incredibly cheap, but I don't care about what she spends to make her feel good about the way she looks.
She has an office job and her immediate coworkers make millions of dollars per year. She can't show up to work looking like a slob. Of course, she's always been a good dresser anyway. My ex-wife has made plenty of derogatory remarks about an alleged obsession with appearance. The reality is that my wife is uncomfortable looking like a slob or anything near it.
Eventually, she's probably going to have breast reduction surgery to save her back too. Spending money to make her more comfortable is okay with me.
It's all good.
I'm cheap enough for both of us. I don't spend anything. I won't spend a buck without strong hesitation. If she didn't buy football tickets for us every year, we wouldn't have them. She's the spender. I'm the scrooge.
She wishes I wouldn't be so frugal, but I feel like my child support payments already make me too expensive.
