BYU has so many rules, standards, misguided middle management and other stuff going on that it is almost impossible to associate with the place without getting mad about something.
For example, I got a ticket on my car once and ran the ticket guy down and showed him that I had a parking sticker. He apologized and took the ticket back. Later that year BYU refused to do something (transcript I needed or something) due to an unpaid ticket. It turns out that the ticket guy turned in the ticket (probably just forgot). After a lot of back and forth they were able to determine that I did have a sticker, but the girl said, "How do we know you weren't driving a different car?" I told her I have no demand for another car (joking). Ultimately they cleared it up and I didn't have to pay anything.
Most people have a story like this with BYU. It's kind of part of the territory. However, lot of people have a similar stories where they did get the ticket and didn't pay it. If that is the case, well...
In either case, if you are a famous alum and you have a similar beef with BYU, I don't think it is appropriate to air your frustration publicly.
