It seems that you usually DON'T want to be the team everybody's picking. Back when USU was good in hoops and making the Dance consistently, we started getting picked as the trendy upset (we had knocked off Ohio State as a 12, and lost to Kansas by a last second missed 3 as a 15 seed). I remember watching the talking heads and thinking, "Quit picking us!" Of course now I'd like to have that problem at all.

Obviously there's no real relation to who the trendy pick is. But think back to teams like George Mason, VCU, Butler, etc. Nobody was picking them. Even Gonzaga did all their damage before they became a nationally known team. Now they struggle to reach the Sweet 16 despite much better seeds. I did a quick peak and in the last 12 years they've been seeded 1, 2, 3(twice), and 4. Yet the best they've done is 2 Sweet 16s and a bunch of early exits.
