This friend who was advising to scripture study and pray was not an LDS assigned therapist or specialist. Just a friend. But the lesson remains. Her attitude has been: if you would simply keep the commandments and do the things we've been told to do, you would basically recover from your problems. It's a naïve opinion because her friend in need needs real help, not spiritual advise. And sadly, this "go pray" advise has actually made her feel even more alien to the Church because the implication is that if she were only more righteous or obedient her problems would go away. I wish.
