RSL Coug,
I think that those that pretend to be holier than the rest of us, just have not yet learned to put balance in their lives.
I think that BYU Football gives us good balance for 12-13 weeks per year. Add a month before the season and a month after the season that gives us time for having the hobby of discussing what needs to be done to make our team even better than they already are.
That is not to say that football is as important than God, Church, Education, Family, and maybe Fireside Chats, but it is to say that it is a very important diversion from the realities of life that helps to put balance into our lives and keeps us mentally healthy along with other hobbies and diverse activities.
I think that there will be far more of those self righteous fans that have a need to constantly pass their better values onto the rest of us, that end up in mental hospitals, than those of us that are not ashamed to admit that BYU College Football is a very important part or our lives. We love it. We don’t need to be told over and over again that football is just a game and does not really mean anything in the theme of things. We get it.
