I think it's mostly a financial decision.
I don't know if the New Mexicos of the world are willing to do one-and-dones with BYU. If they are the payout would be significantly higher than Wagner.
If you have to schedule a body bag game (and we do, to even out the 2-1's we have to agree to with the big fish), what does it matter if it's Wagner or Idaho? 10 more minutes of competitiveness in the game?
