don't get me wrong I absolutely abhor the fan that pretends he's also an un-biased ESPN analyst BUT in this instance I'll make an exception.
Football is a business. In every negotiation you have to go in with a minimum viable outcome. If your unable to come to terms on at least the minimum viable outcome you must be willing to walk away. If the talks ever went as far as actual terms (we have no proof of that) then BYU obviously looked at the deal on the table and realized it wasn't right for the program at the time and under the terms offered. They were willing to walk away and I'm left to assume it was the right decision. Assuming BYU botched the negotiations just because TCU got invited doesn't make sense to me.
