Great post. I don't see much to quibble about.
I think in terms of Nebraska's offense BYU will have to do two things.

1. Stop the run: Bronco Mendenhall's defense is geared toward this and we historically do well. We have struggled at times with teams that run good power football, i.e. Wisconsin a couple of years ago with their massive line and two NFL running backs. Both killed us. I'm trusting one of your local sports reporters who said your line will be good but it's not that line. I think BYU contains the run OK.

2. Make things hard for Tommy in his first game in the new offense: Now this is a two headed monster. By mixing up looks and blitz packages you might succeed in winning the battle and losing the war. Tommy isn't Tommy Brady. He's not going to pick us apart from the pocket. So if you confuse him, then he goes back to instincts. He throws pretty well on the run, and he runs well. One of the issues with exotic blitz packages is that it can lead to gaps in contain. I'm sure we'll have one spy on Armstrong but I don't know that any one spy is going to stop him. Just like Taysom Hill makes defenses indecisive, Armstrong does as well. I have a suspicion his throwing numbers are going to be pretty decent.

As for the defense, we're fortunate that by design the read option mitigates some of the strength of a good interior defensive line...and your's is quite good. BYU will try to spread Nebraska out wide and get players in space. Your LB's have talent but it's somewhat unproven and with the suspension of your best I would imagine BYU will try to pick on the quick, underneath stuff to get safeties coming down and then look for one on one matchups with the Twin Towers, two very talented 6'6" wide receivers.

Were it not for Taysom Hill I'd say our running game will struggle...and most of us are hoping he doesn't run a lot. You should hope he doesn't run a lot too because you aren't worried about him on the season, you just want one game. But, he's a warrior, there will be some designed read option, and there will be broken passing plays. I know your DC is worried about him as much as Bronco is worried about Armstrong. He should be.

Our kicking game is the most solid it's been in years, punting is suspect. We will have a rugby player punting and he's been inconsistent in camp, just as likely to go 20 as 70. We are solid on both return teams and the loss of Pierson El is huge.

As is often the case, I think it comes down to turnovers. If Tommy plays in control and takes what's there I think you guys win. If we grab a few of his throws, I think our offense will score just fine. Don't give us more possessions or your chances of winning get slimmer.

Strange game. Suspensions on both sides, critical injuries to your WR corps, your new coaching staff and how they integrate the personnel they inherited...tough game to predict.

But what I do know...you guys win in Lincoln. Just because BYU had a great game last year in Austin, doesn't mean it translates. I think this is going to be a very fun game and both teams will know a lot about themselves when it's done. BYU is going to test that 29 year win streak. If we get a few bounces, we break it.
