I'm bored and was reading some posts about the coaching shakeup in 2010.

Unlike Indy, I do not post random blurbs with a hidden agenda. I just thought these were interesting, even if they don't directly correlate to our current coaching issues. Enjoy the reading.

Anae had ZERO experience as OC before getting the gig at BYU. Plus Doman has tons of real game experience in calling plays and adjusting at the LOS whenever he had to audible out of plays based on what he saw defenses doing. I guarantee you Anae didn't ever do that as either an Offensive lineman at BYU or as an OL coach. So in that respect, Doman comes into this job with more salient OC experience than Anae ever had.

Doman can be OC and QB coach. I like Detmer, but I agree with Bronco that Doman is the best QB coach in the country. Whether it is Doman or Detmer, we are in good hands.

I give Doman the nod because he actually ran the plays and called audibles on the field....Anae's just run and pass blocked on the field. Not saying every QB would be a good play caller, but I would take a former QB as my OC before an offensive lineman.

Just as importantly we know this about Doman - while the odds of him being any less effective in terms of play calling, game planning and game management are low, we know for a fact that he's better with people - players and players parents come to BYU for Doman and want to stay at BYU for Doman. Neither is true of Anae - which isn't a shot at him, it's just the reality.

I understand the desire to get Ty and agree with the move, to an extent. The problem is that Doman is a great, not good but great, QB coach. Hard to replace someone like that. If Doman is OC, he will be the QB coach, too.

As far as Doman goes. he is a very smart guy that knows the game really well and I have not heard any concerns about him not knowign the game well enough to be the OC.

Natural progression for a QB coach to go to OC. Anae went from O-line coach to OC. Generally not the natural path on the coaching tree. Doman played QB, has college and NFL experience reading, recognizing and reacting to defenses. Time for him to be the man because he isn't going to wait around forever.

Doman spent enough time in the NFL to prove that he is not just an option QB. He would seemingly be a very good choice for OC.

Doman is the best recruiter on BYU's staff. It's not even close. Without Doman, BYU does not get Jake Heaps. And without Jake Heaps, BYU does not get KVN, Wilson, Apo, Stout, Fabuluje and Fua.
