QB Battle
I am stoked that Taysom is coming back. He's an amazing player and it can never be a bad thing to have two great quarterbacks. I know there is a lot of debate about how to handle the playing time with these two players; I am one that thinks a dual-QB system can work when you have two talented players with defined roles on the team and in the locker room. If I were Kalani/Ty, here is how I would handle it:

* Relatively early, I would name Taysom the starter. This prevents the team from dividing into camps of pro-Taysom, pro-Tanner. I think both Taysom and Tanner could handle the ambiguity fine, but I think the longer delay, the more the questions come to the team from media, family, and friends and you risk the different dividing camps.
* Relatively early, I would also indicate that Tanner will play a healthy amount during the year. This ensures he gets a fair amount of reps in the new offense (bulk during Spring Ball) and it doesn't create conflict with the team in the transition between Spring and Fall camp.
* During Fall camp, I would explain to Taysom/Tanner and then the team how the playing time split will work. Taysom starts each game, they rotate series during quarters 1-3, and then Taysom plays the fourth quarter in close games with Tanner playing the fourth quarter in games that are not close.

Just my opinion, but I think this approach would be clear to the quarterbacks, get in front of conflict within the team, and ensure that both quarterbacks are prepared each week. This ensures that if one of them were to go down with injury, we would have a seamless transition to the other as a full-time starter. There are a lot of reasonable ways to handle this as a coaching staff, but this is how I would do it personally.

It's a great challenge to have.
