My ISys teacher told us today about how he had dozens of students implicated in a cheating scandal just last semester. To whom did he report the academic fraud? The Honor Code Office. Who carried out the investigation? The Honor Code Office. The Honor Code Office isn't some secret police with spies in every apartment.

There have been girls in my apartment, after visiting-hours. Was a carrier pigeon sent out with the coordinates so that the HCO gestapo could raid my apt. and kick those sinners out of school? No

I have gone more than a couple days without shaving, was I thrown out of class and failed on the spot for sporting sinful scruff? No

I have committed other honor code violations, was I hunted down or turned into the HCO for an investigation? No

No, those is actually incredibly rare. Most every BYU student will break the honor code (though in some small manner) in their time at BYU. Does the HCO hunt down the perpetrators and prosecute them to the full extent of the law (Honor Code Laws), no.


Quit this doom and gloom, quit saying it has to go. It isn't anywhere nearly as bad as you claim it to be.
