My Dad had a saying he was fond of repeating. "It's better to aim for the moon and miss than aim for the manure pile and hit it." I always thought Bronco was aiming way too low with his recruiting strategy, by only offering those who recruited him. He reminded me of a teenage boy who was afraid to ask the hot girl out because he wasn't a 100% sure she would say yes, and he couldn't stand the pain of rejection. I like the new approach of extending lots of offers to elite players even though the vast majority are going to say no. Nothing is lost by trying and we just may hit the moon a time or two.
