I heard a piece on NPR about a guy who tried playing but realized he wasn't much good, so now he just pays portions of other guys' buy-in fees in exchange for a piece of their winnings, and makes more than he did as a player because his investment is diversified amongst a few players. It was interesting, I had no idea.
