There were thousands of vacant rooms in Los Angeles. I work in Century City and had clients come in from NY on Monday last minute. We had no problem getting them a hotel within walking distance of the office. BM me next time you are in the area and I'll make sure your experience isn't so bad. You should have been able to come, park your car at the hotel, and enjoy many consecutive days in perfect weather and great food without ever having to drive anywhere if you didn't want to.

By the way, Century City isn't really very close to, or considered, downtown LA.
