Both he and the host seemed to think an 8 team playoff was an inevitability, and that the only thing that will keep the Big 12 together when the GOR is up was automatic access to the playoffs. They talked about how automatic access to the playoff is the endgame and pointed out that all this conference realignment will really mean nothing in the future when the 8 team playoff gets here if it doesn't lead to automatic inclusion in the playoff. Dodd seemed to be of the mind that when the 8 team playoff is here you would have a shot at the playoffs regardless of conference, so long as you compete in the FBS.
Dodd also said it's anybody's guess what the Big 12 is actually going to do, but that he thinks the only candidate that doesn't have major drawbacks is BYU, with BYU being the only school that adds value. I know some on the board have felt like his position about BYU has completely flipped and are surprised he's saying they are the best candidate.
