Their fanbase does pride themselves at being the "football-first" school in NC.

And they have a point, really. They have put out a very decent and pretty consistent football product for a long time, which is more than North Carolina's ACC "big four" have done. If given anywhere near the money they get, ECU would dominate any other in-state school in football.
