For me I think it's because it gives me something to anticipate/look forward to.
During these stretches I would love not to be a sports fan, like my wife. But I also don't know how they do it. I think it's waking up not knowing how the day is going to end. I think it's that feeling that becomes addictive for us.
Not sure if it's healthy or not but there are a lot of addictions that could be worse.
