Conference champs and a few at-large. And yes, aside from building a resume for
an at-large birth, out of conference games would probably mean less. Which might be cool because you might see teams schedule better teams in their out of conference games because it doesn't eliminate them from the playoffs with a loss and a win could help them build their resume for an at-large birth if needed.

Actually you shouldn't have any auto-bids just at-large bids. Either you deserve to be in the playoff or you don't.

So what if the 4 clearly best teams are from 2 conferences? You would want the top teams from each of those conferences
