Sounds like my friend
She just finished 4 rounds of Red Devil and is officially done with treatment. Her oncologist told her that it's likely it will show up again sometime in her life - bones, liver or lungs. She knows she's in for a fight again. I'm amazed at her courage and her bravery. Her battles are with her health, others have different battles.

My mom had leukemia almost 20 years ago. She was given <20% chance of making it. She had a dear friend that visited every day for the 3 weeks that she was undergoing a bone marrow transplant and the following treatments. This friend helped my mom imagine her "good medicine trolls" fighting the "evil cancer trolls" every day. The daily visualization of her "good medicine trolls" helped her mood lighten and gave her something positive to think about while undergoing her treatment. Thanksgiving at my Mom & Dad's this year was a very, very good experience for me. Having lost my Grandmother last year was sad, but seeing my Mom take the traditions and experiences that I had as a child at her mother's home for Thanksgiving was very special. My Mom inherited some of her mom's goblets and silverware - which was very neat. After living outside of UT for the past 7 years and not coming "home" for Thanksgiving has been fun, but also slightly sad. I was very grateful to be home this year.

Personally, 2016 will go down as the year that I grew the most spiritually since serving a mission. No cancer, for me, but a spiritual and emotional trial that almost made me lose my will to live. Truly our Father in Heaven gives us challenges when we need them to allow us to become more like His Son and to grow and develop our faith in Him. My trials are not over, but I've come a long, long way since March of this year.

I wish you and your wife all the best and hope that the lessons you are supposed to learn through this experience will make you better, not bitter.

Prayers!
