There were fewer teams, but there was a bigger disparity between the top teams and the bottom teams.
Wins were easier. The top teams were definitely "better" than what we have today but there weren't as many of them. Talent stacked up more.
Beating a middle of the pack team in 1990 was easier than beating a middle of the pack team in 2010.
