It looks to me like you are very wrong.
They raise their hands in excitement and then put their hands to their heads when they realized they lost.
Plus, why is it great to complete a play that CAN'T WIN. I would be furious, if I knew it was a losing play.

The cheering didn't even last 8 seconds. It's obvious they knew they had lost within seconds after the shot was made.
