My son had an at-fault accident with a motorcycle, where the motorcyclist was life-flighted to UVRMC and was in the hospital for a couple weeks. I don't know what his medical bills were, but they had to be significant. Bear River offered the max as a settlement ($250k) for medical/property replacement and pain/suffering. We had a slight increase in our premiums, but they certainly didn't drop us.

By far, the hardest part for us in the whole ordeal was worrying about the biker and not knowing how the rider was doing (though they did tell us after he got out of the hospital), and being told not to contact him. The insurance part was not in the least bit an added stress.
