Individual awards in a team sport are difficult to judge. At least in the regular season each person gets an equal opportunity to play 82 games. In a reverse of what I think you are referring to, Lebron was the best player in the world in 2009 and 2010, but he got bounced in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the playoffs. Largely because his teammates weren't that great. So then the MVP may have gone to someone else on a team that played 7 to 14 more games because their teams were better? Just not sure that it solves any of the problems.
