for a few years as a means of paying off debt isn't always a great idea; sometimes you sacrifice $100,000 in potential income over 3-4 years to have the government credit you $60,000 to $80,000 for the time served as a rural doc. Obviously, it depends on the circumstances in each case, but not always a good idea.
